Creative process is a many faced diamond. It can be a means of self expression, an outpouring of the artist’s soul. It can be an expression of something outside the artist, whether that is understood as the collective unconscious or source energy or something else entirely. And ,of course, when the energy is flowing right, creative process should be an aesthetic celebration. My wish for all artists is that we can rejoice in our work.

I initially approached production as a singer-songwriter. I had been trying to work with different producers, but felt like no one was quite getting it. And then one day, I wrote a song on piano that so urgently demanded production that I had no choice but to open up Logic Pro for the first time and figure it out. I remember thinking, “I’m producing! I’m producing!” The arrangement was simple, but it is still one of my favorites.
I am now fortunate enough to write and produce professionally. Every collaborative relationship is unique and every song calls for its own approach, but my mission as a collaborator is always the same: Uplift and empower the artist in her journey.
